Product description
GOLDEN BAMBOO One healthy root section 12 inches long that you can plant in the ground or in 5 gallon pots. The common names for this variety are Golden or Fishing Pole Bamboo. This bamboo that is hardy to 0'F. Plus tolerates the heat in the south. Light green culms (canes) turn golden when exposed to the sun. The canes are compacted near the base on some canes giving it an interesting zig zag look, like the handle of a fishing pole. The canes are very strong and upright. Can reach heights of 25 feet or more with canes 2" in diameter. This is a great choice for a natural screen, because of its low branching habit that fill in up and down the culm. The culm sheaths are pale/green to pale/red. The auricles and oral setae are absent from the sheath. Scientific name is Phyllostachys aurea. Pronounced "Filostackis" "oria". Bamboo produces 35% more oxygen then trees. Bamboo plants scrub carbon like nothing else on the planet. Bamboo is versitile and can be used in thousands of ways. Bamboo rhizomes can be planted any time of the year. This a running bamboo that can be contained with rhizome barriers. Information can be found on the Internet for purchase and installation. * We sell 12" rhizomes which are capable of producing larger canes the first year. We recommend not cutting the rhizomes and plant them whole. We will include easy detailed planting instructions and care. GROWING A CLEANER WORLD WITH BAMBOO

How are ratings calculated? To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don't use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Reviewed in the United States on January 8, 2016 Verified Purchase It's been over a month and I ended up sawing the stalk in half and planted horizontal. I was nosy and wanted to check on the action under the dirt in the pot I planted it in. Well it has many many roots forming along the length of it, so there is action going on. I'll just have to be patient. My Mom who is my inspiration as far as gardening goes says just wait and see, and that I'll be surprised. I'm in LA where we have pretty mild weather and she's up in Seattle. Well her Golden Bamboo is about 30 feet tall and she started from a single stalk. I'll update in spring with a photo of any activity. Reviewed in the United States on April 22, 2013 Verified Purchase I cut this rhizome in half and planted each half in its own pot. After a couple weeks (spring in Louisiana), each pot has 4-5 great looking shoots emerging. Good viable bamboo rhizome, the rest is up to me. Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2015 Verified Purchase Don't waste your time. After a year and a half waiting, a 1/4" came up. As soon as it hit the air, it died. I was stupid enough to waste my money and try again. Never did sprout and the seller was very unhelpful. Reviewed in the United States on July 9, 2020 Verified Purchase Bamboo didn't grow well. Wish I had just bought a plant at a misery. Reviewed in the United States on May 7, 2018 Verified Purchase Nothing yet but customer service helpful with suggestions Reviewed in the United States on July 2, 2016 Verified Purchase Came well packed in 3 layers of wet paper and then plastic. They just did not grow. Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2015 Verified Purchase Only one plant of two has come up Reviewed in the United States on June 23, 2015 Verified Purchase Not dead yet. We'll see what happens. Top reviews from the United States
